Rookie/Sportsman (ages 8-12) |
Depending on location, this category is referred to alternatively as Junior Sportsman, Rookie or Rookie Sportsman. Each club may run different configurations for their 8-12 year old drivers, the most popular being the Briggs LO206 Rookie or Sportsman, Yamaha Cadet, Micro Swift and Mini Swift. Many clubs are now introducing a ‘206 Rookie’ class as an entry level class aimed at 7-10 year olds who are transitioning from Kid Karts or are just entering the sport. In predominately 2-cycle markets, the IAME 60cc engines are popular among clubs and regional programs.
As always, rules vary by track and club so be sure to check with your local club or sanctioning body for rules specific to the event you will be competing in.
